Amy is the owner and founder of Mrs Sew n Sew Northampton. Amy first started sewing at a young age, whilst watching her mum making dresses, she would be cutting fabric on the hallway floor.
After leaving school, Amy went to Northampton College and gained a BTEC in Fashion and Design. On moving to Leicester to further her studies she gained a HND in Theatre Costume and Design. Completing the final part of her training in Worthing she received a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts.
Amy’s first costume job was working for Geoff (who is now a good friend and dance teacher) at Haveaballoon Costume Party Store in Kingsthorpe Northampton. She got her big break a couple of months later working for the BAFTA winning costumers Angels in London working as an alterations assistant. Here she worked on costumes for many TV, Films and Stage Shows, such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Harry Potter. A further break came when she got a role as Costume Assistant on The Bill where she worked for four years. Amy has also worked for many independent theatres and production companies making costumes for all different periods of time.
After the birth of her daughter, Amy decided it was time to pursue a new adventure, resulting in opening her own shop.
The shop has changed a lot in the last 14 years. We now added two new departments along side the original Mrs Sew n Sew. We have The Enchanted Atelier Bespoke Bridal Boutique for the unique bridal and the Miss Enchanted Atelier costumes by Amy Charlotte for all your dance and costumes needs.
